The Tularosa Public Library began its life in a small room located in the Community Center on Bookout Road. In 2006, it relocated to the present location at 515 Fresno Street. The plot of land it is on was owned by the Bernal family. A Bernal family member, Allen Kreutzkamp made a visit to Tularosa to decide what should be done with the family property, since no one in the family was living in Tularosa. Mr. Kreutzkamp is the CEO of the Kreutzkamp Family Supporting Foundation, a charity located in Provo, Utah. When he asked a friend in Tularosa what was something the Village would profit from having, he was told that a new library would be very welcome. This conversation resulted in the donation of the Bernal property, a generous check from the Kreutzkamp foundation, some capital outlay funds from the State of New Mexico and a new library for Tularosa.
